Vision & Values
The Childs Hill & Claremont Primary Federation was formed shortly before the world wide Covid 19 pandemic. If there was ever an event to test the strength, commitment and determination of a partnership that was it. Through a desire to forge something special, meaningful and lasting for our community we worked hard to establish a set of principles that have given us a foundation upon which to build. The fact that we live by these principles in what we do is the reason our community trusts us, works with us, supports us and will grow with us.
The CHC Principles
-
Every child needs a good education
-
Education should be of the whole child
-
It takes a school community to educate a child
-
Every child has great potential and deserves opportunities
So we work hard to deliver on our principles, to deliver an education that gives our pupils learning and social capital. As a federation our vision is as easy as ABC, Academic Me, Being Me and Creative Me. Our aim is for every child to develop and enjoy their time at school learning and progressing within the three bubbles that make up our curriculum. We are proudly inclusive and ensure that every child knows their ABC.
Curriculum Overview
Our curriculum at Claremont Primary School is as easy as... ABC!
We believe all young people have a bright future ahead of them and we know that it is our job to help them get there. By making sure they know their ABC, we offer every single child a bright future.
Foundation of Learning and Development: The CHC curriculum is designed to lay the foundations, the academics and developmental knowledge and skills, that students will build upon in later stages of their education.
ABC - Holistic Development: Our curriculum aims to promote the holistic development of students, encompassing not only academic but also social, emotional, and physical development. It gives children knowledge to allow them to develop a broad range of skills and competencies.
A - Core Knowledge and Skills: It introduces students to essential subjects like language. Reading - we follow RWInc and our own guided reading scheme. Writing - we follow TfW approach. Communication - we insist on SEN and EAL friendly QFT, quality PSHE lessons and have begun developing oracy. In mathematics and science we follow the White Rose programme of study. These subjects are fundamental for more advanced learning in the future. We encourage the development of critical thinking skills, problem-solving abilities, and reasoning. These skills are vital for our children to process and explain their learning and have a positive mindset. We also have a very well structured and progressive Computing Curriculum embedded in all KSs.
B - Fostering Well-being: Recognising the importance of our children’s physical and emotional well-being, our Being ME curriculum and restorative values teaches and reinforces the importance of health, fitness, and mental well-being.
C - Creativity: We value creativity highly and have developed a curriculum which encourages creative teaching and creativity in our children. Engaging our learners in an immersive approach to our subjects helps our pupils understand culture and society, locally and in the wider world. This comes from our teaching of history, geography, RE and MfL. Creative thinking is further enriched in our DT, art, music, dance and drama.
The CHC principles we believe in and the vision which we follow and work towards results in the values we hold as a school community. The outcome of our collective efforts, be they children’s attainment and progress, developmental milestones or creative sparks, are representative evidence of our values that we know can be seen in our schools.
